Isn’t The Federal Reserve As Much To Blame For The Financial Crises As Wall Street?

For instance wasn’t Turbo Timmy Geithner (current Treasury Secretary) the head of the NY Federal Reserve while all these „risky” investments were taking place??http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/12?
While applauding House passage Friday of overhaul legislation and urging quick Senate action, Obama expressed frustration with banks that were helped by a taxpayer bailout and now are „fighting tooth and nail with their lobbyists” against new government controls.
In his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday, Obama said the economy is only now beginning to recover from the „irresponsibility” of Wall Street institutions that „gambled on risky loans and complex financial products” in pursuit of short-term profits and big bonuses with little regard for long-term consequences……………The president also told CBS’ „60 Minutes” that „the people on Wall Street still don’t get it. … They’re still puzzled why it is that people are mad at the banks. Well, let’s see. You guys are drawing down $10, $20 million bonuses after America went through the worst economic year … in decades and you guys caused the problem,” Obama said in an excerpt released in advance of Sunday night’s broadcast of his interview.

What Is The Difference Between Spread Betting On Financial Markets And Cfds?

CFDs are Contracts For Difference. In a nutshell, it is an agreement between you and your broker to settle the difference in your buy and sell prices instead of having to buy the stocks and then sell them (or to short the stocks and then having to buy them back.) It is a legal instrument which is frequently used as a convience tool to bet on the bear side in place of shorting a stock.
Spread Betting works almost the same way except that it is still very gray in many countries and is mostly conducted between you and your broker without any regulation from the local exchanges. It therefore cannot be technically known as a legal financial instrument.
If you ask me how does all that difference affect small retail investors? Frankly, it does not make much of a difference to small retail investors.http://www.mastersoequity.com

Where Can Us Residents Participate In Financial Spread Betting?

I’ve had a virtual account with BetOnMarkets.com for quite awhile now and I’m comfortable enough to start using real money. But, I just found out during the application phase that their services are not available to US residents!
Is there another website that’s just like BOM that is open to US residents? I’ve searched for several under the term „financial spread betting” but all of them prohibit accounts from the united states. What can I do as a US citizen to open an account and where can I do it?
