Was The Lakers Trade Of Shaq In Favor Of Kobe One Of The Biggest Sports Blunders Ever?

I mean, look, Shaq virtually guarantees your team will enter the Conference Finals at least. Kobe by himself can’t get to the playoffs, Kobe with Phil Jackson can’t even make it out of the first round. How could Jerry Buss be so stupid?
I hear all this talk about Shaq wearing down, but the Heat have made it to the Eastern Conference Finals twice. I bet if the Lakers kept him, they would’ve been serious NBA Finals contenders.
I still don’t understand the logic. Shaq has about 2-3 more years left of serious contention. The Lakers gambled for the future and blew that AND the present.
Trade Kobe…I’m telling you Dr. Buss…oh wait, you gave him that contract.

I’m a Laker fan and I can say that trade sucks. No offense, the Lakers need Shaq to win championships. Before, I was a solid Laker fan. Now, I’m like a Spurs fan or a Cavs fan or any team which has great players. I don’t hate the Lakers, I’m still a fan, but trading Shaq was not the best idea they ever had. It’s going to be a long time since will see again the Lakers as world champs.

I don’t think that Miami needs Shaq. They’ve played without him and have had success. He is aging quickly and as a result get injured a lot. I would take Kobe over him I would just worry about him trying to have sex with my girlfriend.

You are so right, if kobe was traded for vince or mcgrady, the lakers could have won once or twice before the ned of shaq with Kobe now they ca only hpe to get better every year and for the competition not to be too tough …. so if I were to pick between, a great immature player and a great dominant player a little older but wiser I would have pick Shaq. The lakers organization may live to regret this for a long time.

what are you talking about? if kobe had another dominant player with him, they very well might be in the conference finals.
did shaq guarantee conference finals appearances when he was with the magic? not even close. don’t get me wrong…shaq is a great player. but he hasn’t shown he can get a team to the conference finals by himself.
it was a lose-lose situation for the lakers. if they kept shaq, i doubt they get back to the conf finals unless they get a superstar in return. blunder? maybe…they got lamar and 2 average players so yes, in that respect, the lakers screwed themselves.
